In the early 1960s, seventeen of twenty-five landowners pooled their land as VALLCO Business and Industrial Park. The name comes from Varian Associates and the Leonard, Lester, Craft and Orlando families. Burrel Leonard sold 100 acres of his family’s prune and apricot ranch to Varian in 1964.
Vallco Fashion Park opened on September 1, 1976, with small parks along its walkway showing local history from apricots to Klystron tubes. It declined from the late 1980s, and the larger western part of the mall was demolished in 2019.
