Le Petit Trianon was built in 1892 for Charles A. Baldwin and his wife Ellen Hobart Baldwin at the centre of their wine estate; under the Beaulieu label their wines sold in New York, London and Central America. Harriet Pullman Carolan, daughter of George Pullman, bought it in 1909, and E. F. Euphrat in 1940. (National Park Service)
The college district planned to demolish the house in 1968 but kept it after protests. Listed on the National Register in 1972, it was moved twice and restored in 1982 as the California History Center, whose Stocklmeir Library holds the valley’s history. (Wikipedia)
