Pedro Font

The Franciscan priest, diarist and map-maker of Anza’s expedition, credited with naming the creek.

Fray Pedro Font kept the fullest diary of the 1775-1776 expedition. His entry for March 25, 1776 describes the Plain of the Oaks, the people who came out to meet the column and the camp of San Joseph Cupertino, with good water and firewood but no level land for a settlement.
