Blackberry Farm

A city park with pools, picnic grounds and a nine-hole golf course on Stevens Creek, named for Elisha Stephens’ blackberries.

Elisha Stephens settled on the creek in the 1840s and planted Mission grapes and blackberries in the creek bottom; from the blackberries came the name of the place. In the orchard years the Nelson family owned it and held company parties for thousands at its pools. The city bought the property in 1991.

Today it has picnic sites, pools and the nine-hole, par-29 Blackberry Farm Golf Course along the bank of the creek. A plaque to Stephens stands in the golf course parking lot.
