The Tamyen, or Thamien, a division of the Ohlone, lived throughout the valley. Mission Santa Clara de Thamien was founded in 1777. The Cupertino Historical Society’s museum has shown baskets, a stone grinding bowl and arrowheads of the valley’s first people.
